Started early again to miss the heat - it was cool at first but soon reached 33°. I do like Austria, with fantastic views, great passes and good roads. Then I crossed into Switzerland - not so pretty!! By the time I reached Basel it was very hot, miles of traffic trying to pass through the city. I think Basel is trying to move all through traffic into tunnels by the amount of road works - I’m sure it will work one day : but not today.
Once I had escaped that chaos another loomed as they have closed two petrol stations/rest areas for refurbishment…. Looks like I’m going to find out how far I can go on the tank !?!? I finally found a small petrol station just as the warning sign began to flash.
Arrived in good time at the next camp site BUT they are at lunch so I will have to wait 1.5 hours until after their nosh….
Tomorrow is a shortish run to a motel near Fontenbleau - excuse my spelling. That then leaves a quick dash to Caen Port for 4:30pm on Monday for the sailing to Portsmouth and a ride home.
